Paperplane Pursuit, an indie pop band from Kuala Lumpur, has signed a distribution deal with Believe Digital. The agreement between the parties covers a two-year plan to distribute their latest single “Internet Celebrity” to over 240 territories worldwide. The soon-to-be-released album “Second Date” will also be distributed through Believe Digital mid of this year. Formed in 2009, the band’s international breakthrough came around when their single titled “Feel Good” broke Billboard’s Top 40 Mainstream Indicator Chart in September 2015. To date, the single’s music video has over 266,000 views on the YouTube channel.
As part of the deal, the band will have direct access to Believe Backstage, an online portal where they can monitor the analytic performance of their releases on a daily basis. It is through the same portal where they can also upload and manage their catalogue.
Believe Digital, one of the leading distribution company for independent artists and labels, is actively continuing their efforts to scout Asian acts to increase their library of music. On how digital distribution is benefiting Paperplane Pursuit, Isaac Ravi, guitarist of the band commented: “When you’re running the business end of things on top of being the artist, it really helps to have extra arms and legs to work with you on such a crucial area like digital distribution. Whether it’s insight on how to improve our distribution or having access to an entire back-end system, it’s a lot more than if we had been going at it on our own.”
“I think one of the earliest ones that [Believe Digital has] helped inform our thinking, is that we should be looking at a long and more sustainable efforts to grow our listenership rather than starting off with a bang and then fading off quickly. That was the frame through which we planned our strategy for the year.”
“Internet Celebrity” is now available on most streaming and download services and with their second single due to be released in April.
