With data provided by BMAT, the Recording Indsutry Association of Malaysia (RIM) Week 15 Charts details the Top 10 Most Streamed Domestic Singles in Malaysia and showed a huge demand in Malay songs.
Wany Hasrita’s Menahan Rindu released by FMC Music has been on the Recording Industry Association of Malaysia’s (RIM) Top 10 Most Streamed Domestic Singles Charts No. 1 position for over 11 weeks now and has swooped almost 9.6 million views on YouTube. Within 5 months of the single being released on YouTube, this song has attracted a huge following followed by Ara Izza’s Warkah Untukku released by Measat Broadcast Network Systems and Warner Music Group. This single has so far garnered almost 74,000 plays on local channels and is showing no signs of dropping out of the charts.
The strongest contender so far remains IamNeeta’s Sakit by NAR Records. This single has been on the charts for over 34 weeks and sits at No. 8 on the chart. Siti Nurhaliza and Faizal Tahir’s Dirgahayu garnered 45,635 airtime play at Week 15 has also been attracting listeners garnered over 5.3 million views on YouTube.
Haqiem Rusli’s Segalanya has been on the same chart for over 28 weeks since its released in September 2016. Sitting comfortably at No. 4, this is a notch up from Week 14 and still one of the favourite singles being played on local radio. So far, it has over 6 million views on YouTube.
The Singles market has been one of the more popular release choices in comparison to albums. The music market is moving towards a fast-release behaviour in order to satisfy the growing demand for choice in the music and digital industry and releasing a track internationally via music providers such as Spotify or Joox has increased significantly and never been easier.
