Southeast Asia’s largest homegrown music company, Swee Lee invited the media for a special opening of its first-ever specialty drum store at Peninsula Shopping Complex, Singapore.
With over 15 stores in the region, the Singapore company harked back to its roots as a supplier to British military bands in the 1940s. Moving forward, Swee Lee has come a long way and will be stocking a range of the best-known brands, including the Japanese drum makers Pearl and Tama, 130-year-old US company Ludwig, and other favourites such as Meinl, Sabian and Gretsch. Apart from being an exclusive distributor for Roland, the shop will also stock a variety of hand drums, sticks, stands and gear cases by brands including Vic Firth, Evans, LP and Remo.
These brands are world-class instruments and have been endorsed by some of the world’s most famous artists and musicians including The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Beach Boys, Aerosmith, The White Stripes, The Foo Fighters, and Santana.
“I’m excited to be launching our new specialty Swee Lee Drum Shop experience. At its core, it’s a place where any drummer is welcome, whether they’re about to have their first lesson or have been drumming for decades. As the retail environment evolves, we have seen fantastic growth in digital, but for tactile products like our musical instruments we are equally committed to bringing our customers choice, quality products and great service in a unique physical setting,” said Swee Lee Managing Director Meng Ru Kuok.
