Malaysia street-style rapper Zamaera, originally from Subang Jaya, is back with a new single titled “Wanita” – her first Malay single. Poised to be an anthem for the modern woman, ”Wanita” reminds the world, that women are strong, beautiful, independent and are role models for both sexes. The emphasis on the importance of self-value and self-love is amplified through this catchy track and is made even more euphoric with her brilliant rhythmic alliteration.
Heavily influenced by Tupac, Beyonce, Lauryn Hill and Erykah Badu, her style is already creating a name for herself and has partnered with acclaimed Malaysian rapper, Joe Flizzow and graffiti artist turned hip-hop star, SonaOne. Zamaera has also competed in Red Bull Blend 2016, a rap cypher competition and named a runner-up, against 50 all male competitors.
The twenty-two-year-old rapper and singer-songwriter drew some attention when her single ‘Helly Kelly’ produced by Kidd Santhe from Monster Sound was on the Malaysian charts earlier this year. Breaking the seams of the music world, the star dominated the MET charts for six weeks with her unique flare in rap and music.
