James Reid wins MTV EMA 2017 Best SE Asia Act

MTV EMA 2017 celebrated its annual music award show in London attended by some of the most stellar artists in the world including U2 performing their “Get Out Of Your Own Way” from London’s Trafalgar Square.

Best Hip Hop winner Eminem  opened MTV EMA 2017 by doing a thrilling orchestra-backed performance, along with guest artist Skylar Grey, of his newly dropped track “Walk on Water,” taking the mic in a London pub before joining the EMA stage at The SSE Arena, Wembley.

James Reid emerged as the winner in the “Best Southeast Asia Act” category, voted by fans on the 2017 MTV EMA website. James has the highest number of votes in his category beat his contenders, which included Faizal Tahir (Malaysia), Dam Vinh Hung (Vietnam), Isyana Sarasvati (Indonesia), Slot Machine (Thailand), The Sam Willows (Singapore) and Palitchoke Ayanaputra (Thailand).

“Thank you MTV for awarding me Best Southeast Asian Act. It is such an honor to be representing the Philippines and with this recognition, I will keep on making music and bring the Philippines to the world stage.” said James Reid. This isn’t Reid’s first nomination as he was a nominee for the similar category at the 2015 MTV EMA happened in Milan, Italy! Major throwback!
